As Of Counsel to Bretz, Flynn & Associates, Deniece Jordan-Walker concentrates her practice in the areas of corporate law, corporate and real estate finance and securities offerings.  In the area of corporate law, Ms. Jordan-Walker advises the firm’s clients on the selection and formation of business legal structures, including limited liability companies, limited partnerships, C and S corporations and general partnerships.  As corporate and real estate finance counsel, she provides clients with the negotiating, deal structuring, drafting and closing skills she has developed in representing Fortune 500 finance, energy, banking and real estate development companies.  In the area of securities, Ms. Jordan-Walker is charged with representing the firm’s clients in private placements, complex secured term and revolving credit facilities as well as unsecured facilities, and the issuance of SEC registered offerings.

Ms. Jordan-Walker commenced her legal career 30 years ago as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.  After her Federal Judicial Clerkship, Ms. Jordan-Walker joined the Washington, D.C. Office of McKenna Conner & Cuneo (n/k/a McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP) until she relocated to Chicago where her legal career included Assistant General Counsel of the Illinois Development Finance Authority (the predecessor agency to the Illinois Finance Authority); Senior Associate at Bell, Boyd & Lloyd and Partner and Head of the Municipal and Corporate Finance Department at the Law Firm of Carney & Brothers. She has represented major corporate clients in matters ranging from government contract law and international trade and commerce to the purchase of commercial real estate assets.  Since 1987, she has been involved in advising clients either as legal counsel or as a municipal advisor in structuring and closing over $1 billion of tax-exempt and taxable general obligation and revenue municipal bonds to finance a wide range of projects, including hotel, market-rate and affordable multifamily housing, industrial, and retail projects.

Ms. Jordan-Walker has been featured in such national publications as Multi Housing Executive, Affordable Housing Finance and Multi Housing News. She attended undergraduate school at Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, and Kent State University.  Ms. Jordan-Walker holds a Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law where she was the first African-American Editor-in-Chief of the International Law Journal and Canada-US Law Journal. She is the author of Settlement of the Namibian Dispute: The United States Role in Lieu of U.N. Sanctions and was admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Illinois.  Ms. Jordan-Walker is a Commissioner of the Housing Authority of Cook County and also served as an advisor to the Government Finance Officer Association’s Budget Committee.
