Chuck Bretz and Associates secured a not guilty to for a felony client, charged with two counts of theft. The client, who has several felonies in his background, was charged with stealing property from his job. The client wanted a jury trial, but Chuck Bretz, knowing the issues in the case, gave the tactical advice to proceed with a bench trial. At the bench trial, the Judge ruled that the State could not prove that items alleged to be stolen were in fact, stolen. This is despite evidence that the client help sell similar items to a scrap yard a few days later. Consequently, the client was found not guilty of theft.
